Breaking free from Imposter Syndrome

Curious, problem solver, pastry chef – these are just some words that describe our community member in the spotlight today. In this post, we feature an interview with Sravani Sataluri, data analyst at Newtone Consulting, who shares how our programs have transformed their confidence and career paths. Discover their inspiring journeys and the impact of “She Loves Data” on their professional growth.

New to the country, Sravani was looking for a like-minded data community for women. She relocated to Singapore in early 2023, and knew no one except her husband. At that time, she was looking for a job, and wanted to find out about the data and tech roles in the market, as well the skills she can equip herself with. This was when she met Jana, She Loves Data (SLD)’s founder at one of its events in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Through Jana, she discovered the SLD community and its upcoming events.

The AWS event was her launchpad in keeping up with what’s happening in other companies, how they are handling their challenges, as well as upcoming tech and hiring trends. It was also a great networking opportunity to talk to people who were technology leads across different industries.

The experience stuck with her, and she continued to engage with the SLD community and their events. The most recent was the event on “Designing Tomorrow: Unlock your role in the human and AI workforce”, where she particularly enjoyed Aishwarya Ramakrishnan’s session on design thinking. She found the AI challenges relatable, not unlike the ones she had encountered at work. Some thoughtstarters she took away were:

a) If you are creating a new product, how would you think about it?
b) What steps would you take to understand customer needs?

c) How can you reach your target product segment effectively?

The community gave her the confidence to build on her existing skill sets, and a supportive nudge down the path she had in mind. She loves that SLD’s workshops are insightful, interactive, and adaptive to cater to women from different backgrounds.

Her experience spans across different industries, including e-commerce, human capital management, healthcare, as well as banking, where she currently is. Her goal is to be in a role, where she can leverage her passion for emerging technology, business operations and people management, to improve process efficiency and solve real business challenges.

Looking back, SLD provided her with the validation and support she needed to feel heard, and battle imposter syndrome towards finding her ideal role.
