She Loves Data is a global non-profit movement that makes AI, data, and leadership learning accessible to women and minorities. Through free workshops, mentoring, career support and community events, we help people develop practical skills and gain the confidence to progress in their professional journeys.
Role Overview
As a Chapter Co-Lead, you will be instrumental in nurturing and expanding our local community. Your primary role involves leading a team of dedicated volunteers, fostering growth through strategic initiatives, and ensuring all activities align with our brand's values and standards. You will report to the COO.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Development
Recruit, onboard, and mentor a team of volunteers, providing them with guidance and support to thrive within the organization.
Delegate responsibilities effectively, ensuring all volunteers have meaningful tasks that contribute to their sense of belonging and personal growth.
Maintain clear communication and set expectations to ensure team cohesion and productivity.
Ensure the team adheres to organizational processes and guidelines, including the use of Slack, shared drives, and other collaborative tools.
Uphold and represent the She Loves Data brand.
Community Engagement and Growth
Identify the specific needs and interests of the local community to develop an annual chapter plan. This plan will guide the organization of activities and overall community engagement throughout the year.
Drive organization of local events focused on Tech Workshops (Certified Signature Programs), using content developed by our global team, Meet-ups and Networking Sessions, and Soft Skills Workshops, aimed at enhancing the professional and personal development of community members.
Continuously gather and integrate community feedback to refine and optimize the engagement strategies and activities offered.
Event and Relationship Management
Oversee the planning, execution, and review of local activities, ensuring they meet our quality standards.
Manage relationships with partners, instructors, and speakers, ensuring their engagement aligns with our community’s interests and values.
Strategic Partnerships
Identify potential local partnerships and initiate discussions to explore collaborative opportunities.
Work closely with the global partnerships team to align negotiations with organizational templates and contract requirements.
Commitment Requirements
The Chapter Lead position requires a commitment of approximately 6 hours per week.
This role demands a high level of responsibility and commitment, as it is crucial for the sustained growth and engagement of the community.
Candidates must be willing to commit to at least a one-year term to ensure continuity and impact.
Requirements
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Strong understanding of community building and event management.
Understanding of the local market.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Experience in working with volunteers or in a volunteer-led organization is an advantage.
Ability to lead and inspire a team.
High level of responsibility and commitment.
Passion for technology, data, and promoting diversity and inclusion in the tech sector.
Commitment
Approx. 6 hours per week
