Handling Challenging Conversations
Do you tend to shy away from difficult conversations? If so, you are not alone!
In fact, some surveys suggest that around 66% of people feel stressed or anxious when they know a challenging conversation is coming up. And 7 out of 10 would prefer to avoid bringing up problems and issues, instead staying quiet.
Unfortunately, these problems rarely go away by themselves! Instead, they tend to create ongoing friction, tension, and “conflict debt”.
The good news is that you can learn some skills and tool for raising tricky issues and navigating these conversations more effectively.
In this session, you’ll discover:
- What makes challenging conversations feel so “difficult” in the first place
- Why it’s very ‘human’ to avoid them!
- Why learning to handle challenging conversations is such an important skill
- A step-by-step framework for raising an important issue and opening a two-way dialogue
You’ll also receive some practical takeaway resources to help put what you’ve learned into practice afterwards, in your ‘real life’ work environment.
Finally, you’ll have an opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with Leisa, who will share her insights as a coach, psychologist, and leadership development specialist.
Speakers
Leisa is a registered and Masters-qualified Workplace Psychologist, facilitator, and consultant with over 17 years of experience in leadership development, organisational and positive psychology, employee engagement, behavioural change, and more. She has delivered a broad range of projects over the years, now spending most of her time helping leaders and individuals to become more skilled, self-aware, and ‘human’ in the way they communicate with each other and navigate important workplace conversations.
Leisa has been lucky enough to work with a broad range of public and private sector organisations including some of Australia’s most iconic and exciting brands. Examples include ANZ, Australia Post, Telstra, Envato, NAB, Square Peg Capital, REA Group, Cancer Council, OES, Melrose Group, and the Australian Government at local, State and Federal level.
