“You Are What You Eat” Data Challenge
‘You are what you eat.’ The importance of good nutrition in maintaining a healthy, disease-free body cannot be more emphasized these days. What is ‘good’ nutrition though?
This global “data-thon” co-presented with MSD is an exploration and analyses of the nutritional composition of various foods that will help us appreciate what real good or bad food looks like, in data-terms. Predictive analytics will also be used to derive insights on food classifications.
Open only to graduates of She Loves Data’s Dashboard or Forecasting programs, participants will have a chance to win prizes, digital trophies and badges of achievement.

Symphony began her data journey more than 10 years ago at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore as a Mathematics undergraduate. As her interest in data generation grew, she taught herself data science skills and engaged in multiple statistical researches.
Upon graduating, she advanced her data journey at MSD as a founding member of the data science department, supporting various analysis on commercial data and driving data literacy in the organization. Currently, Symphony is responsible in data modelling, engineering, and business intelligence tools aspects.
In her free time, Symphony enjoys strolling in the nature, observing, and learning about the wonders of physical world and the science of life.

Al John Mangahas

Al John became an IT graduate at Ateneo de Davao University in the Philippines. After graduating, he started his experience in the industry as a Full Stack Developer where he specializes in building web application using MVC Frameworks written in Python/Java language. Being immersed in a fintech start-up industry, he began to grow more interest in data processing and management thus began his journey as a Big Data Engineer.
Equipped with proper training and skills in Big Data Management, he worked as a Lead Big Data Engineer at ETISALAT in the United Arab Emirates where he process huge volumes of data, create data warehouse designs, and develop visually appealing dashboards/reports. He then moved to Singapore and worked with the same role under Standard Chartered Bank where he used Hadoop Technology.
He then advanced his journey at MSD as a member of the Data Science Department that mainly supports businesses in their needs for analysis. Currently, John handles data warehousing, data management, and business intelligence.
In his free time, he enjoys photography, playing volleyball/badminton, cafe hopping, and cycling.

Jana Marle-Zizkova

Avid data and diversity advocate, Jana headed teams and country operations at Estee Lauder, Sybase, SAS and Socialbakers.
A Czech native and a Swedish citizen, Jana has been living in Singapore since 2012, where she co-founded a data consultancy, and later, Customer Data Platform start-up Meiro. She also co-founded the non-profit She Loves Data, which was recognised “Diversity Initiative of the Year” in 2019 by Women in IT Asia.
Recently, Jana was honoured as one of Singapore’s 100 Women in Tech 2020. Between 2008 and 2009 she was also one of the “Top 25 Business Women” in the Czech Republic.

Eric Gifford, PhD, founded the R&D IT team at the MSD Singapore IT Hub in 2016. He is an experienced professional with in-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical R&D, data science, digital health solutions, external collaborations, and business development. He is a strong advocate of open science and precompetitive collaborations to leverage solutions across industries. Eric is also the founding director of the MSD Singapore IT Hub Collaborations and Partnerships team. This team is responsible for identifying and delivering technology collaborations between MSD and external Asia Pacific based partners.
